Powerful Impact

Powerful Impact is the first colored piece I created as part of my Impact series, the first few were clear. It was created to represent the splash created by moments of impact. I find myself constantly finding new ways to use glass to depict water.  When glass is hot it moves like water and when it is cold it is still like ice. I have done many experiments with water and dropping heavy object in, to see the result in a video or photograph so I can truly see what water looks like at that moment of impact. 

All of my pieces begin as sheets of clear and colored glass. From there I cut, or break pieces, arrange them and fire them in my kiln. Unlike water I can't drop something in a pot of hot glass and produce the same effect, so instead I found my own formula to drape my finish my glass panel in the kiln once more to  represent the moment of impact.
