Blue Iridescent glass plate
Blue Iridescent glass plate
We are so excited offer this blue iridescent glass plate to you. At first glance you see a blue transparent plate with corners that come up subtly holding the contents of the plate in. Upon second glance you see this plate is made with iridescent glass! Iridescent glass is interesting because when the light hits it, you can see all the different colors of the rainbow reflecting back at you.
This plate was created by a series of firings each taking 12-16 hrs. The first firing was created with 4 layers of glass cut and arranged on a sheet of clear glass fired over 1400°F. At this point the glass was cold worked to create smooth edges. The second firing was done after a sheet of clear glass was set on top of the previous layers to add depth to the final piece. Last, a lower temperature firing was given to the glass as it sat on a clay form to create the final shape.
A truly one of a kind piece.
